. During my junior year, I had a math teacher, Mrs. Reinemann. I walked into class thinking it would be another casual year. She seemed sweet, funny, and had good teaching methods.
. Mrs. Reinemann started off at “Mary Baldwin”, an all-girls school, where she soon realized she did not like living with girls. From there, she chased a boy all the way to Southern Utah University to study sociology. Let’s just say things did not end well with the boy.
. Throughout her life, she had many jobs, but after getting compliments like “I wish I had you as a teacher” while working in business, it helped make her decision to pursue a career in teaching. Working in business was a great job and gave her the opportunity to travel around to places like Poland. She has now taught at Westfield for 12 years. Out of all the jobs she had, she made more then than now. In my opinion, teachers need to be paid more. Already not making enough, they also provide supplies for their classrooms, which is definitely not cheap considering how many kids they have per class.
. While I was able to talk to her, she told me one of her favorite memories. Playing outside with her daughter another casual day for them, she saw an old student across the street. As they talked and caught up, the student said that because of Mrs. Reinemann, she is now in law school. This student felt like she wasn’t able to do much in school, but with the help of this teacher who always pushed her for better, she is now able to pursue her dreams. It touched Mrs. Reinemann’s heart as it showed her what impact she made on students even after they graduated.
. My favorite memory was all the times she helped anyone. Small gestures like giving food to those who don’t have any, being very understanding, and a person you can turn to anytime. I liked her teaching methods because she always explained it in further detail if you didn’t understand something. Some students say she’s strict, but after being with her for a year, I’ve seen why. It reminded me of the time during my freshman year when my class made the teacher cry from stressing her out.
. For any students that end up in her class, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Students she currently has or formerly had have all told me it was the easiest class, and I agree. Since my freshman year, I was also discouraged and never thought I would pass math, but during my junior year, I passed with an A.
