The Commanders were one of the greatest teams this NFL season. They’ve proven it to the country. Led by Jayden Daniels, the Commanders record was 12-5 (wins-losses). The Commanders were knocked out of the playoffs by Super Bowl winners, the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite Daniels’ best efforts he and the team couldn’t stop the Eagles’ star player, Saquon Barkley. Barkley scored three touchdowns for a total score of 18 points. However, the Commanders only scored two touchdowns for a total of 12 points. Coach Dan Quinn and Daniels are set to work in the offseason on building onto their 12-5 season.
Daniels, one of the best quarterbacks of the new generation and has a bright future ahead of himself. As someone who knew Daniels before NFL stardom this comes as no surprise to many football fans. “I still have some ways to go,” he said. “I’ll sit back and reflect after my rookie year is done.” The young rookie has proven himself to all who doubted the Commanders’ pick on him. “You guys got to stop calling him a rookie quarterback,” veteran tight end Zach Ertz said. “He may be a rookie quarterback in terms of years in this league. But his maturity, his poise is that of a 10-year vet.” Ertz, a tight end for the Commanders, supports Daniels in any way he can. Daniels, the undisputed leader of the Commanders’ offense finishing with 3,568 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and a QBR of 70.6.
Terry McLaurin, the team’s top receiver, has had a show out season with stats of 1,096 yards on 82 receptions and scoring 13 touchdowns. His ability to consistently make big plays for the teams is one factor that helped lead the Commanders to success. Dante Fowler Jr. was a monster in the pass rush, recording 10.5 sacks, which often disrupted opposing quarterbacks. Meanwhile, Mike Sainristil’s two interceptions and 14 pass deflections was definitely an underdog.
The Commanders have proved to the world that they are indeed one of the best teams in the NFC east. The team hopes to make new improvements to their 12-5 record and new additions to their lineups, which in return; they hope will bring them to a championship.
