. Students from Mrs. HeeCho Kim’s Korean 4 and Korean 5 classes have accomplished an exceptional series of achievements this year.
. Parker Dominick, 11, is a Korean 4 student. He was selected and participated in the International Korean Youth Camp: an immersive, one week program where all costs were covered.
. When asked to describe the experience, Dominick explained, “The program took place at the Hana Global Campus in Incheon South Korea, near Seoul. It was an educational and cultural experience where we learned how to make Korean Food, performed Sejong 1446, had Korean Classes, and got to go to Seoul and see sites like Gyeongbokgung Palace and Namsan Tower.”
. Dominick was inspired to apply after hearing about the opportunity from his Korean 4 teacher, Mrs. Kim. Furthermore, he said, “The application was fairly straightforward and all accommodations were paid for by the program.”
. Dominick explained that there were 100 program participants, all were international students from different parts of the world: “it was an amazing opportunity to meet people from all corners of the globe and experience Korean culture together. I looked forward to going into Seoul and trying to learn everything I could while I was in Korea.”
. Additionally, Hailey Park, 12, a Korean 5 student, was awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
. Finally, Chris Park, 12, also a Korean 5 student, is a Questbridge finalist who was matched with Brown University, and offered a full ride scholarship.
