For the second in-district game of the season, Westfield’s JV Field Hockey team played Oakton. Westfield had high expectations from Oakton, the team had only fallen to Madison so far. Oakton had already beat Westfield’s rival team, Centreville, 7-0.
After defending a couple too many penalty corners, that really shouldn’t have been corners, Westfield’s defense held up through the first half. The score was 0-0.
“The best quarter for Oakton is always the third quarter. They average three to four goals no matter what team they play,” stated Andrew Ssekikubo, Westfield JV Head Coach during half time.
After two more 12 and a half minute quarters, the Bulldogs lost 0-2. It was common consensus from the team that the referees had a lot of questionable decisions.
“Oakton was really good, We played really well,” Ssekikubo added after the game.
